Spendenaufruf für die umfangreiche Renovierung der Heltauer Kirche

As is known, the Heltau parish has signed a financing contract using EU funding to cover a comprehensive renovation of our church.

The total value of the renovation works amounts to 7.12 million Lei, which is approximately 1.58 million euros. Of this, approximately 40,000 euros represents the parish's own contribution. Ultimately the own contribution will be higher, since expenditure on the preparation of the project and unforeseen works must also be added, which are not covered by the financing contract. As a reminder, only works on the church and the inner churchyard are covered by the EU project.

The allocated funds are intended for the external restoration of the church, the renewal of the roof structure, the renovation of the floor covering, the wooden elements, the interior walls and the vaulting. Likewise, the electrical wiring, the heating and the pathways, the drainage and water supply pipes are to be renewed, and an audio guide as well as an appropriate information centre accessible to persons with disabilities are to be established. All of us care greatly about knowing that our fortified church with its evangelical church is in good condition. The working group of the HOG Heltau has therefore decided, as a matter of course, to support this project and to contribute to the parish's own share.

We — the Evangelical Parish and the HOG Heltau — wish to tackle this once-in-a-century project together. We see ourselves as bearing a shared responsibility for the preservation of the beloved Heltau fortified church and the cultural heritage of the Transylvanian Saxons. We owe this to our ancestors, who built all of this and maintained it for hundreds of years. All of us — regardless of whether we live in Heltau or far from it — are the moral heirs of this, the most significant cultural monument of the Heltau community.

We — the Evangelical Parish and the HOG Heltau — regard this task and challenge not only as a duty, but also as a historic opportunity, and are confident that we can accomplish this renovation undertaking with united forces and with God's help.
